Such a Magical Array

"This is the only Legacy Stone I could find in all of Yanjing City," Evan Xiao said. "See if it's enough."

Grace weighed it in her hand. The Legacy Stone wasn’t very big, probably about three or four ounces.

She only needed two more ounces, so this should be enough.

"This should be enough!" Grace said. "Let me give it a try!"

"Try? Try what?" Evan Xiao looked at her.

"Uh... an array. A magical array that converts Legacy Stones into spiritual energy."

"Where?"

Where... Grace thought for a moment and decided to tell him the truth.

"Actually, here's what happened. I accidentally picked up a bracelet once—really pretty one—and tried it on..." Grace told him about the Dimensional Bracelet.

"Dimensional Bracelet?" Evan Xiao's eyes flickered with surprise.

"Mm."

"Where did you find the bracelet?"

"Inside Eastwood Forest," Grace replied. "In the Infernal Drake's nest."

Infernal Drake's nest... the bracelet... the Legacy Jade Scroll...

Evan Xiao pondered for a long while before concluding, "You're really lucky."

She'd expected him to be completely shocked.

But instead, he just casually said those four words.

Grace was a little annoyed. "Aren't you surprised at all?"

"Mm, very surprised."

"But you don't look surprised at all!"

Evan Xiao closed his eyes. "I am surprised. But right now, I'm tired and need a nap."

"Tch! Whatever, I'm done talking to you! I need to see if I can activate the array." Grace climbed onto the bed, sat cross-legged right beside him, and slipped into the Sanctum.

She placed the Celestial Spirit Jade into the pit that was still short of a pound.

The moment she put it in, all four pits suddenly closed up.

On the first floor of the Sanctum Tower, strange patterns covered every wall.

After the pits closed, those patterns began to light up from the corners. Finally, with a soft 'click,' a bowl-sized hole appeared in one of the walls.

And then... nothing else happened.

"Huh? A hole appeared in the wall... What does that mean?" Grace was puzzled.

She pulled out the Legacy Jade Scroll and flipped through it, but found nothing about this.

After thinking it over, she picked up an Earth Spirit Jade and put it into the hole in the wall.

At first, nothing happened.

Gradually, she suddenly felt the spiritual energy in the room growing thicker and thicker.

Meanwhile, the Earth Spirit Jade in the wall was growing dimmer and dimmer...

So that's how it works!

It worked!

What an incredible magical array!

It could actually convert Legacy Stones directly into absorbable spiritual energy...

"Why are you grinning like that? Did the array activate?" Suddenly, Evan Xiao spoke to her.

Grace exited the Sanctum, suddenly overcome with wild impulse, and planted a kiss right on Evan Xiao.

Evan Xiao lay there, unmoving.

"It worked! Hee hee! Thank you so much, my General!" Grace beamed.

"If it worked, it worked. Why did you kiss me?"

"You're so annoying!" She got up, ready to leave the bed.

But then a hand pressed the back of her head, and her lips were forced onto his again—there was no escape...

...

After nightfall, they rode back on the Red-crested Golden Eagle as usual.

They landed near the military camp under cover of darkness, and the three of them snuck back in together.

Unexpectedly, as soon as they entered, General Shang appeared with a grave expression and whispered in Evan Xiao's ear, "Emperor Henry is here."

Though the voice was low, all three of them heard it.

Grace and Minister Zhuo both felt a chill run down their spines.
