Baxa’s Scaleplate Necklace

Luckily, Lord Faustin showed up in front of the two Dragon Lords before long.

The Azure Dragon Lord, face unreadable, explained everything to Lord Faustin: the Thunder-Heaven Void-Breaking Chain had gone missing, and Baxa was the prime suspect.

At the same time, his son Nine Li was also caught up in the mess.

They demanded that Lord Faustin hand over both of them and bring them to Drake Abyss.

They had assumed Lord Faustin would definitely refuse, put up a fight, or at least call in some Divine Race backup.

But to their surprise, he just nodded sincerely and said, "Since something like this has happened, of course we should cooperate."

As he spoke, he turned and called out, "Nine Li! Nine Li! Come out here for a sec!"

Nine Li popped out of the Sigil Sect's array, greeted the two Dragon Lords politely, and then asked sweetly, "Is there something you need from me, Dragon Lords?"

The Dragon Lords exchanged glances. Lord Wynn Drake asked, "You know Baxa?"

"Of course! Baxa is my lifesaving big brother!" Nine Li replied.

"Baxa 'big brother'?"

Both Dragon Lords got instant goosebumps.

"You two making such a big fuss... Surely you're not here to arrest Baxa, are you?" Nine Li looked genuinely puzzled. "I heard that the Demon Emperor's charges have been proven totally bogus, so Baxa's name should be cleared too, right?"

"Your so-called 'big brother' Baxa stole the Celestial Empress's Thunder-Heaven Void-Breaking Chain!" Lord Wynn Drake snapped.

"Huh? No way!" Nine Li protested. "Baxa's a real hero—he'd never stoop to something so shady!"

"We've got a Clarity Charm as proof!" Lord Wynn Drake said. "Can you call him over to cooperate with our investigation?"

"No problem! He's in the Sigil Sect." Nine Li whipped out a Messenger Charm, made a show of explaining the situation, then flashed the Dragon Lords a friendly smile. "Baxa will be here in a minute!"

Sure enough, Baxa showed up quickly.

He was even more humble than Nine Li, and immediately denied stealing the Thunder-Heaven Void-Breaking Chain.

The Dragon Lords insisted they all go to Drake Abyss to clear things up. Without a word of protest, everyone followed.

Lord Faustin and Lily Bai went along too.

Later, Sean Shaw called for First Prince Brandon Xiao, and he joined them at Drake Abyss.

Everything went so smoothly that everyone was caught off guard.

First Prince Brandon Xiao produced two Clarity Charms.

One was ironclad proof of Baxa being at the Sigil Sect.

In the recording, he made no attempt to disguise himself—his face was clear as day, teaching Baxa cultivation.

The other showed him outside the entrance to Drake Abyss.

First Prince Brandon Xiao asked, "The Thunder-Heaven Void-Breaking Chain went missing, and after checking, Baxa, your timing and location look pretty suspicious."

Baxa replied, "That's odd. I met Young Lord Adrian Drake at the entrance, so why does the recording only show me?"

Adrian Drake stepped forward and said, "First Prince, that's right! I called him over last night. I can vouch for him—he met with me and left right after, never set foot inside Drake Abyss."

"Then what about this?" First Prince Brandon Xiao revealed an item.

Baxa's brows furrowed the instant he saw it.

It was his Scaleplate Necklace.

Sometimes he would shed a scale or two, and he'd string them together as a necklace.

He hadn't even noticed it was missing...

First Prince Brandon Xiao asked, "When the Palace Guards fought the thief who stole the Thunder-Heaven Void-Breaking Chain, they tore this off. This is yours, isn't it?"

Baxa glanced at Lily Bai, expression unreadable, and said, "I don't know how this ended up in your hands, but the one who stole the Thunder-Heaven Void-Breaking Chain wasn't me."
