Blind to True Power

Boom!

A thunderous explosion echoed through the air.

Before anyone could even see what had burst out from the ground, a miserable shriek sounded by their ears—and the thing was stomped straight back underground by the youth in front of them.

"Such a petty thing, and it dares act so wildly."

Evan Lin shook his head, a little disappointed.

He'd thought he might find something special here, but it turns out that beneath this so-called Nine Suns Facing Heaven node the Daoist hyped up, there was nothing but a wronged corpse buried below.

Evan Lin stretched out his left hand, casually tracing his fingers through the air. Instantly, a faint golden glow appeared, forming a swastika symbol.

The symbol was only half the size of a palm.

Stella Huang's eyes widened at the sight, her pretty face full of astonishment.

Sam 'Second Brother' Su had just been slapped several times in the chest by the Daoist and was still in pain, but he couldn't care about that now—he just stared in disbelief at the swastika rune the youth had drawn out of thin air.

The Daoist, meanwhile, had collapsed on the ground, his face full of terror as he stared over there.

Grizzly's gaze was blank; deep down, he was grateful he'd brought Evan Lin along.

All sorts of emotions spread through the crowd.

Over there, Evan Lin slowly pressed the swastika rune downward. It quickly merged into the shattered concrete underfoot, and from below came wave after wave of anguished howls, along with bursts of powerful force slamming upward from underground.

But the youth standing there never budged an inch. When the shrieks from underground finally faded, and after a long while, Evan Lin glanced around the room—the triangular house had returned to its four-cornered shape. Only then did he step back, turn to the stunned Stella Huang, and say, "Let's go. It's getting late."

Stella Huang snapped out of it at his voice. "What was that thing underground?"

Her face had gone pale, still shocked by Evan Lin's technique. She stared at the concrete floor, but all she saw was a mess of shattered rubble.

As for what lay beneath the rubble, Stella Huang couldn't make it out.

"Nothing useful down there. Better not to know."

After Evan Lin said that, Stella Huang didn't dare ask again. She just gazed into his eyes, finding even more mystery there.

"Uh... Master, Master!"

Sam 'Second Brother' Su, frozen in place, saw Evan Lin about to leave. His expression changed instantly, and he hurried forward to block Evan's path.

"What's up?"

Evan Lin frowned slightly.

Although Sam 'Second Brother' Su was Victor Su's son—and Evan Lin had agreed to help Su Mo cure her Fire Spirit Body—he couldn't help finding Sam Su annoying.

If not for wanting to check out the place and see if any treasures were hidden here tonight, Evan Lin wouldn't have bothered coming at all.

"Master, Master, I was blind—I was blind to true power!"

Sam Su's mind worked fast. The moment he saw Evan Lin's technique, he realized the youth was far more formidable than he looked.

Those skills were almost mystical. Compared to him, that million-yuan Daoist he'd hired was absolute trash!

Sam Su almost regretted not treating Evan Lin with proper respect earlier. Now he wished he could kneel on the spot.

"Master, can people still live in this house? And what exactly was that thing underground? If it weren't for you just now, all of us would've died here." Sam Su looked bitter, glancing nervously at the floor behind him.

"You can live here, sure. But that stuff he bragged about—the Nine Suns Facing Heaven node, how it's supposed to bless your whole family? Total nonsense." Evan Lin replied coolly.

Sam Su's face kept changing. The Daoist couldn't take it and stepped forward, glaring at Evan Lin. "If I'm not mistaken, you just used Buddhist techniques, right? Are you a lay disciple? Even if your skills are high, you can't just dismiss the Nine Suns Facing Heaven feng-shui with a single word!"

"I came from Mount Wutai. I've studied divination and feng-shui since I was a kid. My Daoist arts may not be perfect, but when it comes to reading feng-shui, I'm confident!" The Daoist tried to act like a real master.

He'd already lost face when his essence-blood suppression failed. If he didn't claw back some dignity, he might not even get paid.

"You claim to know divination? Did you cast a hexagram for yourself before coming out tonight? Did you check your own luck for the day?" Evan Lin sneered.

"Of course I did! The hexagram said I'd turn misfortune into blessing and stay safe. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come here. Sure, things got a bit messy just now, but look—I'm still standing right in front of you." The Daoist smiled smugly, putting on airs.

Before he'd even finished talking, Evan Lin stepped forward and casually slapped him on the head. With a 'whoosh,' the Daoist shot straight out the window, gone before he could even fart.

"Turning misfortune into blessing and staying safe means talking less. Buzzing around like a fly."

Evan Lin spoke with cold indifference.

Standing to the side, Sam Su was drenched in cold sweat. The Daoist was gone as if he'd never existed—one slap and the man was sent flying. Just how much strength did that take?

"Second Brother, that youth is the real deal! A true expert! Your family and that other one have some history, right? If you could invite him..." Grizzly stepped forward, face pale, and spoke quickly.

But Sam Su cut him off with a glare before he could finish.

Then Sam Su looked at Evan Lin and spoke respectfully: "Master, I saw your skills just now. Would you be interested in working with me?"

Sam Su was full of hope.

"What makes you think you're qualified to have me work with you?" Evan Lin asked with amusement, his eyes narrowing. Sam Su felt a chill, sensing a hint of killing intent. He turned pale, broke out in cold sweat, and hurriedly explained, "No, that's not what I meant!"

"I mean, with your skills, Master, could you accompany me somewhere in a few days? My old man is about to celebrate a big birthday. I was planning to give him this Nine Suns Facing Heaven house as a gift, but that's ruined now. So I was hoping to get some kind of magical artifact to give him instead."

"A magical artifact—you know what that is, right, Master?" Sam Su looked at Evan Lin, worried he might not understand such high-level stuff.

After all, most ordinary experts have no concept of magical artifacts. To mortals, they're genuine items from the immortal world!
