Staring at the dense, swirling wind blades—even separated by the grand array—everyone felt their skin crawl. The Calamity Sword Maiden, Raina Quinn, looked slightly grim. She was sure that if she fell into that storm of blades, there would be no chance of survival.
But soon, her gaze landed on Ian Song, who was lounging with a teacup in hand.
He must be the one who set up the array, right? How could he be so young? Don’t be fooled by her own girlish appearance—Raina Quinn had started cultivating at age three, her body nourished by true essence all her life. Otherwise, she wouldn’t look like a teenager at a hundred and fifty.
Suddenly, Raina Quinn’s eyes flashed. She asked, “Old Man Tanner, what kind of array is that?”
Old Man Tanner stared hard at the formation. After a long pause, he said excitedly, “If I’m not mistaken, that’s the Great Sumeru Illusory Slaughter Array—a fusion of trap, illusion, and killing arrays. The boy who set this up is a peerless prodigy, destined to become a Heaven-rank formation master.”
“Are you serious?” Raina Quinn’s eyes lit up, her gaze toward Ian Song suddenly burning with intensity.
“Heh, just keep watching. In the Great Sumeru Illusory Slaughter Array, Conrad Wolf is doomed!” Old Man Tanner chuckled weirdly, though his eyes now held deep wariness. He knew that even at his own cultivation—peak mid Divine Transformation—he’d never survive in there.
Hearing this, Raina Quinn’s shock deepened. An array that could absolutely kill Divine Transformation experts—if the Calamity Blade Sect had a formation master like that…
Thinking of this, she glanced back at one of her sword attendants and quietly sent a voice transmission.
The sword attendant nodded lightly, then vanished in a blur.
Inside the array, Ian Song set down his teacup and smiled at the five Duke of Qi Residence guards, all drenched in cold sweat. "Do you want to live, or die?" he asked.
"You little punk! We're Duke of Qi Residence guards. If you dare kill us, the Duke will never let you go!" one guard blustered, his bravado clearly forced.
His shout echoed out of the array, completely unobstructed.
Everyone outside grew curious—would this youth really dare kill the Duke’s guards?
Just then, six streaks of light flashed down, resolving into five men and one woman.
As soon as the six arrived, some knowledgeable spectators recognized them: they were A-Squad from the Duke of Qi Residence, led by Mountain Invincible, a mid Divine Transformation expert, with the rest all at early Divine Transformation.
"Old Man Tanner, can these six break the Nine Heavens Black Tortoise Array?" Raina Quinn glanced at the group and sent a voice transmission.
"Heh, unless the array runs out of energy, they won't be able to break it!" Old Man Tanner replied with a cold laugh, sending his own voice transmission.
Instantly, Raina Quinn felt reassured.
Inside the array, Ian Song glanced at the boastful guard and said calmly, "I killed Aaron Jiang, so why would I spare you flunkies? Since you want to die, go ahead!"
In the next instant, the suspended wind blades all shot toward the guard. Amid his screams, he was sliced into a cloud of blood mist.
"How dare you, punk!"
Seeing this, Mountain Invincible flew into a rage and roared, "Break this array for me!"
The five Divine Transformation experts attacked at once.
Spells, magic treasures, and divine abilities crashed in waves against the Nine Heavens Black Tortoise Array.
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
The array's glow dimmed for a moment, but quickly brightened again. After the barrage, the Nine Heavens Black Tortoise Array was still intact.
"Wow, this array is insane—even five Divine Transformation experts working together couldn't break it!" said a stunned Nascent Soul stage cultivator.
Inside the array.
The guard's gruesome death left the other four even paler with terror.
"Are you all just like him?" Ian Song asked again.
If that guard hadn't died, the others might still hope Ian Song wouldn't dare kill them. But now, they were scared out of their wits.
One guard suddenly knelt. "Please spare me, young master!"
"Courting death!"
Conrad Wolf moved to kill the kneeling guard, but a barrage of wind blades forced him to retreat hundreds of meters in a single breath.
With someone taking the lead, the other three also knelt for their lives. "Please spare us, young master!"
Seeing this, the people outside the array secretly shook their heads. This youth was slapping the Duke of Qi Residence in the face.
Mountain Invincible, of the Duke of Qi Residence, was furious, nearly exploding with rage. "Break the array with everything you've got!" he roared.
The second wave of attacks began.
"Good, looks like you all want to live. In that case, curse the Duke of Qi for me—if I'm satisfied, I'll spare you!" Ian Song said.
"Uh...?"
The four guards looked hesitant.
"What, you don't want to? In that case, you can die too!" Ian Song's face grew cold, and the wind blades in the sky shot toward them again.
"No, we'll curse! Jiang Kui, screw your grandpa!"
"Jiang Kui, you're a damn beast!"
"Jiang Kui, hope your son is born without an asshole!"
"Jiang Kui, I'm your grandpa!"
At first, the four cursed hesitantly, but soon they got into it, spewing one vulgar insult after another.
Outside the array, most onlookers stared in shock, thinking, 'How will the Duke of Qi feel when he hears this?'
Mountain Invincible's face was so dark it looked like water might drip from it.
Old Man Tanner's lips twitched in surprise, then he smiled knowingly. He mused, 'This kid is cunning—the Duke of Qi Residence's guards mostly come from other sects and have a cooperative relationship with the Duke.'
Since these four cursed Jiang Kui, they can't stay at the Duke of Qi Residence. But Jiang Kui can't kill them either—otherwise he'd offend their sects.
"Alright, you cursed well. Get lost!" Ian Song said.
With a wave of Ian Song's hand, the four were teleported outside the array.
"Haha, I'm not going to die!" one guard laughed.
Suddenly, he noticed that everyone outside the array was giving them strange looks.
"You four have guts, daring to insult the Duke!" Mountain Invincible said darkly.
"Ah, Captain Mountain!"
The four were stunned, realizing everyone outside must have seen and heard them cursing Jiang Kui.
"Run!"
After cursing Jiang Kui like that, they knew he wouldn't let them go. Their best bet was to leave the capital and return to their sects.
As the four guards fled in all directions, Mountain Invincible's eyes flashed with killing intent. He raised his hand and struck out four times.
Four black palm prints appeared in the sky and slammed down on the four guards.
Puff! Puff! Puff! Puff!
Their bodies and Nascent Souls exploded, turning into clouds of blood mist.
Seeing this, many people shivered, thinking how ruthless it was—and gained new respect for mid Divine Transformation strength.
But Old Man Tanner just shook his head, eyes full of disdain. 'Brave but brainless fool!' he cursed inwardly.
