Encirclement

"Is that so?" Evan Yang asked, then looked at Glen Lane.

Glen Lane nodded, "Yeah, that's right. As long as you don't die, it's considered normal."

"You heard him, kid? Now I'm going to cripple you. As long as you don't die, it's all good." The self-proclaimed leader snorted coldly.

"I heard you. Go ahead," Evan Yang said.

"Arrogant. You're just an Immortal Lord, yet you act so cocky. Watch how I deal with you!" The man snorted again, gathering even stronger light in his hand.

Too much gathered light gave off heat. Evan Yang and Glen Lane could both feel the hot currents, but Evan showed no concern, while Glen Lane was worried—the light was too strong.

Evan Yang just smiled. "You sure you want to cripple me?"

"That's right, kid. Watch closely!" the man snorted.

But Evan Yang stood there with a strange smile. Just as the light was about to hit, a smooth ice wall appeared in front of him. When the light struck, it instantly bounced back—the ice wall was like a mirror, reflecting the light right back at them.

"Is that so? Fine, if you've got guts, don't dodge. I'll show you something stronger." The man grew angry seeing Evan Yang's disdain and gathered even more light.

Glen Lane quickly said to Evan Yang, "Don't be stupid, hurry up and get out of here."

"Whatever the method, it's up to you. You must deal with him—or I'll deal with you," Blake Bai said.

Glen Lane couldn't understand where Evan's confidence came from. The opponent's attack was way too strong. If Glen himself faced it, he'd barely be able to resist, let alone Evan, who was just at Immortal Lord level. Glen was really worried.

But Evan Yang wasn't worried at all. Instead, he kept provoking his opponent, making him gather even stronger light.

Finally, the man snorted, "If I keep going, I might just kill you."

Looks like another internal power struggle. Are we supposed to help someone else?" the second brother frowned.

"Do we really have a choice? The Saintess suddenly woke up. We don't know what she's like, but at least she won't make things hard for us. The others are different—from Eldon Liu to Blake Bai, none of them let us off easy. So we have to work hard. Once we become Guards ourselves, they can't order us around like this," the leader said, hoping.

"Arrogant—he's asking for death." Seeing Evan Yang not dodge, the leader sneered.

"Blake Bai, you didn't see it. That kid's treasure is way too powerful—it can completely reflect light. We couldn't even touch him, just ended up hurting ourselves," the leader said, frustrated.

"I saw it too. That treasure is definitely a problem. But if you figure out how to break it, then you can handle him, right?" Blake Bai said.

"Eldon Liu, I've done as you said. But that kid's got some skill—he held off a group of thugs," Blake Bai reported.

"Oh? So the Saintess's chosen guard actually has some ability?" Eldon Liu asked.

"Maybe so," Blake Bai replied.

"Regardless, we can't let the Saintess pick her own guard—especially one we can't control. That person must be eliminated. Make sure you handle it, or don't bother coming back," Eldon Liu said.

"Understood, Eldon Liu. I'll get to it," Blake Bai said.

After Blake Bai left, Eldon Liu closed his eyes, and the blue glow disappeared. In his heart, he thought, "Want to choose your own guard? Not a chance. I won't let you be a carefree Saintess."

Meanwhile, the group retreated in shame to a nearby hilltop, where someone was waiting for them.

"What, is that all you've got?" the person asked, looking at them.

"I saw it too. That treasure is definitely a problem. But if you figure out how to break it, then you can handle him, right?" the White Guard said.

"But how are we supposed to break it?" the leader said, frustrated.

"Whatever the method, it's up to you. You must deal with him—or I'll deal with you," the White Guard said.

"Yes, yes, we'll definitely figure something out," the leader said anxiously.

The White Guard vanished in a flash. After he left, the second brother asked curiously, "Big brother, why is the White Guard targeting the newcomer?"

"No idea, but it probably has something to do with the kid being the Saintess's guard," the leader said, annoyed.

"Looks like another internal power struggle. Are we supposed to help someone else?" the second brother frowned.

"Do we really have a choice? The Saintess suddenly woke up. We don't know what she's like, but at least she won't make things hard for us. The others are different—from the Guardians to the Guards, none of them let us off easy. So we have to work hard. Once we become Guards ourselves, they can't order us around like this," the leader said, hoping.

"True enough. So, big brother, how should we deal with that kid now?" the second brother asked suspiciously.

"Let's just go back and heal up first," the leader sighed.

The group left the hilltop. Meanwhile, the White Guard arrived at a cave. Inside, it was pitch black, except for a pair of eyes glowing blue—cultivating the blue light attribute.

"Guardian Liu, I've done as you said. But that kid's got some skill—he held off a group of thugs," the White Guard reported.

"Oh? So the Saintess's chosen guard actually has some ability?" Guardian Liu asked.

"Maybe so," the White Guard replied.

"Regardless, we can't let the Saintess pick her own guard—especially one we can't control. That person must be eliminated. Make sure you handle it, or don't bother coming back," Guardian Liu said.

"Understood, Guardian Liu. I'll get to it," the White Guard said.

After the White Guard left, Guardian Liu closed his eyes, and the blue glow disappeared. In his heart, he thought, "Want to choose your own guard? Not a chance. I won't let you be a carefree Saintess."

At first, Evan Yang didn't notice anyone was targeting him. He just rested in his cave as usual. Glen Lane chatted with him for a while, then returned to his own cave.

A day passed like this, and then the group showed up again. Evan Yang sighed when he saw them. "What, yesterday wasn't enough for you?"

"Kid, don't get cocky. Today we don't believe we can't take you down," the leader snorted. The group formed a circle, trapping Evan Yang inside.

"What, planning a group attack?" Evan Yang asked.

"That's right! We don't believe you can block so many attacks," the leader said. He couldn't think of another solution, so he resorted to this.

"You all are shameless," Evan Yang sneered.

"Shameless or not, it doesn't matter. It's all about confidence. Let's see how you block us today," the leader replied thick-skinned.

Evan Yang smiled helplessly. "Go ahead then."

Having seen Evan Yang's power, some of them hesitated. Their first round of attacks wasn't full force, because they knew the stronger the attack, the harder it bounced back.

So, some were fine, others got hurt. The uninjured ones secretly cursed the injured for being too serious. The leader noticed the problem and shouted angrily, "If you don't attack with full power, I'll deal with you later."

Scolded by the leader and remembering his strength, they had no choice but to go all out. Meanwhile, a crowd had gathered to watch the show.

After all, one against many was rare, especially since Evan Yang was only at the Immortal Lord level.

They gathered their light and attacked Evan Yang with full force, but still couldn't break through his ice. Frustrated, they decided to abandon the light attribute and attack him directly, so they teamed up for a physical assault.

With this group assault, Evan Yang could only rely on his speed. He moved quickly among them, scaring the weaker cultivators into retreating. The leader cursed, "Anyone who backs off, I'll cripple you."

Those who wanted to retreat from Evan's range had no choice but to press forward after hearing the leader's threat. Evan used his speed to dart among them, occasionally leaving glowing handprints on their backs.

After several rounds, nearly everyone had at least five palm prints left by Evan—some so severe their flesh was scorched. "Still want to continue?" Evan asked, seeing their various injuries.

Seeing everyone's injuries, which would take half a month to heal, Evan stopped attacking. The leader, frustrated, led the group away in defeat.

Evan Yang's strength was exposed again. Those who secretly looked down on him began to see him in a new light, not daring to provoke him.

Chao Ge, the steward of the Light Guard Hall, was quite surprised to hear of Evan Yang's abilities.

"Interesting. But his light attribute is still lacking. If he were only allowed to use light attacks, I bet he wouldn't even match Red Light," Chao Ge muttered.

The White Guard, seeing the group's miserable state, was furious. He glared at them. "Do you really want me to cripple you?"

"Please spare us, White Guard. That kid is too strange—neither attribute attacks nor regular attacks work on him. His speed is bizarre," the leader said, frustrated.

"I don't care—just take him down! If you can't do it by tomorrow, I'll cripple you all!" the White Guard snapped, then left.

The group looked at each other, knowing disaster was looming. If they couldn't deal with Evan Yang, they'd be the ones punished. Helpless, they racked their brains for a way to handle him.

"Big brother, if we can't beat him openly, let's try something sneaky," the second brother suggested.

"Sneaky? What do you mean by sneaky?" the leader asked, curious.

"Look, have a few people fight him head-on, while others watch from the shadows. When he's distracted, hit him with darts or a surprise attack—seriously injure him, and that's it," the second brother explained.

"Wouldn't that make us villains?" the leader said, frustrated.

"Big brother, we're about to be crippled. Who cares about that now?" the second brother replied, equally frustrated.
