Father Will Not Give Up On You

"Lana, stop running!" Sam Evans clutched his neck, ignoring the pain as he rushed after her.

Uncle watched the chaos, feeling a headache coming on, and quickly called to the young servants: "Quick, stop her!"

The gate guards swarmed forward and dragged the escaping Lana Evans back.

Inside the house.

Lana Evans was tied to a chair, cursing nonstop, demanding to be released.

David Wang rubbed his aching head, wondering why this girl acted as if she were possessed, stubbornly heading straight for disaster.

She’s already home, so why does she insist on throwing herself into trouble again?

Lana Evans glared fiercely and struggled desperately, her arms bleeding from the ropes as she fought.

Sam Evans couldn’t bear to see his daughter like this and softened, saying, "Lana, what do you really want? Seeing you like this breaks my heart."

Lana Evans spat, glaring at Sam Evans. "Stop pretending! You had your good days with Lily Evans, didn’t you? If you really care about me, let me go—let Jasper go, too!"

"Jasper Cheng is not a good person! Look at what he did to you—your body is covered in bruises. Why do you still want to stay with him? Lana, please wake up and stop being so stubborn. If you don’t want to marry, then stay at home—I'll support you for life. If I’m gone, your brother William will take care of you. If you want to marry, I’ll find you a good man who treats you well. Daughter, how about that?" Sam Evans pleaded helplessly.

"No, no! I only want to be with the young master. If you won’t let me, I’d rather die! A woman should be loyal to one man—virtue and chastity are everything. Since I belong to the young master now, unless he abandons me, I will never leave!" Lana Evans bit out.

"Lana!" Sam Evans clutched his head in agony.

Linda Wang signaled to David Wang and William 'Li Dong' Wang, and the father and son understood—they helped Sam Evans out of the room.

In the courtyard, Linda Wang stroked her chin and said, "Sam Evans, your daughter seems absolutely devoted to that young master. No matter what you say, she insists on staying with him. If we keep forcing her to stay home, it won’t work. She’s a grown woman—she’ll always find a way to run off."

Sam Evans was at his wit’s end, his mind a complete mess.

Linda Wang said, "Sam Evans, since you—"

David Wang slapped his thigh. "Wife, you’re brilliant! Didn’t Lana Evans say she’d never leave unless Jasper Cheng didn’t want her anymore? That Cheng fellow is still locked up at Moonlight Pavilion. If we can get him to tell Lana Evans he doesn’t want her and she should go home, maybe she’ll finally give up!"

Sam Evans’s eyes lit up, as if grabbing onto a lifeline. He said urgently, "Yes, yes! That’s it! Lana Evans is stubborn—once she’s set her mind, she won’t change. So we’ll have to start with that man. You all keep an eye on Lana Evans; I’m heading to Moonlight Pavilion to find Xenia!"

As soon as Sam Evans finished, he dashed to the backyard, grabbed a horse, and despite his poor riding skills and the risk of falling, whipped the horse and sped toward Moonlight Pavilion. As he rode, he muttered fervently, "I have to save my girl. I must get her out of this misery... Lana, wait for me. I won’t give up on you, my daughter..."
