Punishment and Little Dumpling’s Tricks

Little Dumpling always knew that compared to his father, his mother doted on him more. But seeing that she had no intention of comforting him at all, he realized things were bad.

Remembering what his big brother had taught him—that in any conflict, you have to seize the initiative—Little Dumpling didn’t hesitate. He burst into loud, dramatic sobs...

Little Dumpling balled his fists and rubbed his eyes as he cried, but he still peeked through his fingers to watch Serena’s expression. Seeing her unmoved, he cried even harder.

“Mom is so mean! Now that you have a little sister, you don’t want Little Dumpling anymore. I’m so pitiful—I’m running away from home! I won’t talk to Dad or Mom ever again. Dad and Mom are both awful. Now that you have a little sister, you just want to hit me. Waaah...”

“I’m so pitiful, so pitiful...”

Seeing that Serena was still ignoring him, Little Dumpling’s fake crying turned real. The more he cried, the sadder he got—until finally, he sprawled across Serena’s belly, bawling so loudly the whole palace could hear.

Serena sighed. She couldn’t comfort him, but she couldn’t ignore him either. All she could do was gently pat Little Dumpling’s back and tell him not to cry, deliberately saying nothing about canceling his punishment.

Seeing this, Little Dumpling cried even harder. He was convinced that even after all this, his parents still meant to punish him!

But in reality, Little Dumpling’s worries were completely unnecessary. Ninth Royal Uncle was far too busy to personally spank him. Of course, not being punished at all was out of the question—after causing such a huge mess, there was no way he’d get off scot-free.
