Shattered Path, The Resolute

"I have a rather presumptuous request. The Wraithlord hopes you can tell me."

I stood up, walked over to the Wraithlord, and bowed.

"Where, or by what method, can one obtain the power of justice?"

This is what I most want to know right now. The Azure Luan Egg has probably been swept into this mess. I don’t know its fate, but I have to do something—this is the only hope to bring Rachel Lan back to life. I’ve never considered giving up, even though the world itself is already shattered.

"Justice, huh!"

The Wraithlord lowered his head and chuckled, then shook it.

"In this ruined, ravaged world, it does not exist. Though I know much, this kind of power—born only of human delusion—appears in this world with a probability close to zero. It’s just like your instinct: there is never a repeated instinct in this world, and whether human or ghost, the chance of possessing instinct is almost zero. The power of justice you speak of is even less likely to appear than instinct itself."

"Is that so."

A wave of bitterness welled up in my heart. Although I had mentally prepared myself, the pain now felt like being cut by a knife.

"Actually, reviving someone is quite simple. You should already know that, right?"

"Aren't you going to ask?"

Wraithlord smiled. I hesitated, my mind replaying Sylvia Blue's smiles—gentle, mischievous, excited, lost in herself.

"No need."

Fear gnawed at me. Sylvia Blue’s origins were a mystery, and I didn’t want to ask. I was terrified that if I learned everything about her, I might never see her again.

"It's almost impossible to awaken that girl with the massive curse power here, but I have a way. You know how water has thermal layers? Curse power is similar—some areas are weak, others strong. You just need to move quickly through the weaker spots and avoid the stronger ones. You can distinguish curse power by its color. For now, I'll lend you my eyes, but you must hurry."

Wraithlord stood up and reached out to me. I placed my hand in his. A faint violet light flashed. Wraithlord dissolved into mist before me, and suddenly, a purple jade pendant radiating warmth appeared in my palm.

I gripped the Ghostblood Jade—my third piece. For a moment, I hesitated, remembering Ethan Zhang’s warning from the future.

"Even so, I will save Roxie."

With a hum, I pressed the Ghostblood Jade to my chest. Instantly, everything around me began to dissolve, my consciousness fading. Purple light burst from my eyes, and a wave of warmth swept through my heart. I opened my eyes.

The water was pitch black and bitterly cold. Not far above me, a silvery gleam flickered—much dimmer than what I’d seen moments before.
