The Fool Who Doesn’t Haggle
"What are you giving me that for?"
"Aren't you going shopping?"
Why should I use your Legacy Stones to shop? You're not anything to me!
Sean's smile faded from his eyes.
But his hand, still holding out the Storage Pouch, didn't pull back.
Lucia Lu turned and walked away.
Suddenly, her wrist tightened.
He caught her.
"What are you doing?" Lucia slanted a look at him.
"Are you... mad at me?" Sean asked.
"No!"
You are.
Sean didn't haggle at all, just counted out a pile of Legacy Stones and handed them over.
"Why?"
Lucia didn't want to talk to him and tried to shake off his hand.
"Is it because of that day?" Sean didn't let go. "I really was rude that day."
"Which day?"
"The day the flowers bloomed."
"Why were you rude?"
Sean: "..."
"Let go of me!" Lucia struggled.
But he pulled her closer with a firm tug.
Lucia's heart skipped, and she sped up in a flash.
"Do you... prefer my egg, or his?"
Lucia: "..."
Sean's gaze dimmed. "His?"
Lucia sensed he'd loosened his grip, yanked her hand back, and asked, "Take a guess?"
Sean looked at her, totally baffled.
Judging by his expression, he was genuinely confused!
"I'm going shopping now! Luna's waiting for me! Stop following me!" Lucia teleported away.
No matter how he chased, he couldn't catch her.
...
It was the first time the two girls had explored Divine City. Everything was new and exciting.
Whenever they saw something they liked, they'd haggle a bit and buy it.
Food, clothes, trinkets—they bought all sorts of things.
Eventually, while browsing, they ran into someone familiar.
"Senior Sister!" Adrian ran over, all enthusiasm. "You guys are in Divine City too!"
Lucia glanced at the person behind him but said nothing.
"Let's hang out together!" Adrian said again. "Come on, Senior Sister?"
Lucia said, "Wide road to the heavens—go your own way! Men and women shouldn't mix, so off you go!"
"Senior Sister, are you joking? We're basically family—no need to be so formal!" Adrian fanned her with his folding fan. "Besides, Cangwu is way more open-minded than other places. That whole 'men and women keep their distance' thing? Doesn't exist here."
"Do I really have to spell it out?" Lucia slanted a look at him. "I don't want to see you! I don't want to shop with you!"
"Aw, Senior Sister!" Adrian switched to his secret weapon: whining. "Don't be like that! It was my fault for running my mouth the other day! Hit me! Go on, hit me!"
"Shoo, shoo!" Lucia pushed him away and linked arms with Luna, walking off.
Adrian and Sean trailed behind them like a pair of bodyguards.
The girls ignored them, focusing only on whatever caught their interest.
They stopped at a jewelry stall.
"Wow! These accessories are gorgeous!" Luna exclaimed. "The craftsmanship is amazing! What are they made of—jade?"
As they browsed, Sean suddenly picked up a red Glazed Hairpin and asked the vendor, "How much for this?"
"Oh, this one is really special, this—"
"Just tell me the price!" Sean cut him off.
The vendor, a bit annoyed, replied, "Eighteen pieces of high-grade Legacy Stone!"
Sean didn't haggle at all, just counted out a pile of Legacy Stones and handed them over.
The vendor had never met anyone so clueless about haggling—he was thrilled! He grabbed a fancy wooden box, packed up the hairpin, and handed it over.
Then he gave Sean a thumbs-up and praised him, "High God, you've got great taste! This hairpin is perfect for a sweetheart!"
Sean's lips curved slightly as he took the box and handed it to Lucia.
