No Solution, Ninth Royal Uncle Takes Action
Serena Feng was no fool. With just a hint from Ninth Royal Uncle, she understood everything—and the more she understood, the angrier she became.
"Is William out of his mind? Does he not care about his own life? Even if he wants to purge the traitors in the Wang Clan, he doesn't need to gamble with his life. You only get one life—if he loses it, no matter how clean the Wang Clan becomes, it won't matter." If William were standing in front of her, Serena would absolutely kick him hard.
Damn it, working a doctor to death isn't even a crime.
"He's not crazy. If he doesn't want the clan dragging him down whenever he acts, or selling him out when he's away, he has to cut through the mess with a sharp blade. Only this way can he force out all the monsters and snakes in the Wang Clan in the shortest time possible.
In the Wang Clan, William can't tell friend from foe. This method is risky, but it's brutally effective. After this, he'll know exactly who is loyal. Ninth Royal Uncle only explained so much because it's Serena; if anyone else asked, he wouldn't bother.
It's true that people's hearts can't stand too many tests, but only those who've been tested can be fully trusted. For William, this is a tribulation—if he gets through it, no one in the Wang Clan will ever be able to block his path or drag him down again.
Ninth Royal Uncle knew perfectly well that William was doing all this because of their alliance. If not for working with him, William wouldn't need to take such a huge risk.
William allied with him to seek the world. If word got out, it would mean the extermination of the entire Wang Clan. For the sake of his whole family, William has no choice but to do this—he must clear away every risk around him and turn the Wang Clan into an iron bucket before he can act freely. That way, even if he fails, the clan will still have a way out.
William is a man with the world in his heart. He would never sacrifice the clan's interests for personal feelings.
Serena had nothing to say. Ninth Royal Uncle was right—better to go all out than to be tied down. After this, there would be no more danger around William.
"Break, then rebuild. The Grand Heir is a master strategist." Victor Yun pondered Ninth Royal Uncle's words, then burst out laughing.
Isn't that exactly what happened to the Young Clan? After their own ordeal, the Young family is more united than ever, and all those petty thieves and scoundrels have revealed themselves.
Any clan, once it reaches a certain stage, will inevitably develop tumors. Only by clearing them out can it keep moving forward.
"Gambling with your own life is the worst possible strategy." Serena admitted Ninth Royal Uncle had a point, but she couldn't agree.
"If you don't pay a price, how can you earn your enemies' trust? The Wang Clan isn't stupid—if it's not real, no one will jump into the pit. If William doesn't clear out the hidden dangers, he'll end up dead sooner or later." Dying quietly is the most humiliating way to go, and dying at the hands of your own people is even worse. Even if William dies, he'll drag all the Wang Clan's tumors down with him.
The more Serena thought about it, the more her head hurt. She finally threw up her hands: "I'm done meddling in Wang Clan business or William's schemes. If he insisted on coming to Feng Manor, it probably wasn't to have me save him, but to wait for you."
In the end, she was just one of William's pawns. She didn't have the power to save him anyway. With Ninth Royal Uncle here, William probably wouldn't be in any real danger. Serena stood up, dusted off her clothes, and said, "I'm exhausted. I'm going to rest. Victor, make yourself at home."
As soon as Ninth Royal Uncle arrived at Feng Manor, the servants told him Serena hadn't slept for two days and nights. Hearing she wanted to rest, he didn't stop her—instead, he immediately sent someone to escort her back to her room.
Watching their interaction, and seeing how freely Ninth Royal Uncle moved around Feng Manor, Victor Yun became even more certain their relationship was extraordinary. The rumors outside didn't even capture a tenth of it.
Victor Yun was a smart man. Even though he was dying of curiosity, he obediently looked away and didn't ask any questions.
The two men sat there in silence, neither intending to speak. Both were perfectly content to wait, so there was nothing awkward or strange about it—until the Young Clan's physicians came out of the cabin looking utterly defeated, finally breaking the quiet.
"Young Master, this old man is powerless." The two doctors didn't stand on ceremony. They stepped forward and said directly, "I truly can't find anything wrong with that young master. To me, he simply looks asleep."
Victor Yun had already expected this. If even Serena's medical skills couldn't uncover the problem, there was no way these two could.
Victor nodded and turned to Ninth Royal Uncle: "I'm afraid I won't be able to help, Your Highness."
"It's enough that you tried, Victor. If you're not busy, why not stay here tonight with the two doctors and rest?" Ninth Royal Uncle spoke politely, but his tone left no room for argument.
Victor knew he'd gotten himself into trouble. He touched his nose and resigned himself: "I'd be honored."
The moment he saw William, Victor knew he was in for it. Now that he's tangled up in Wang Clan affairs, getting out won't be easy.
Although the two doctors were confused, seeing Victor Yun accept without protest, they quietly followed the servants to rest. They'd been working all day and were exhausted.
Victor Yun also took his leave. Ninth Royal Uncle just nodded, not bothering to see him off, sitting in his chair and staring ahead, lost in thought.
Victor Yun left without looking back. Even though he'd been dragged into Wang Clan business, he'd rather die than get involved. The Young Clan was in no shape to take on anyone else's problems; he barely had time to look after himself, much less worry about the Wang Clan.
Still, Victor Yun was sure of one thing: after this, the Wang Clan would be gravely wounded. They might lose their status as Eastlyn's Number One Great House, but in another sense, it would save them—preventing them from becoming another Young Clan, beset by everyone.
Even if William dies, he's still thinking of the Wang Clan. Too bad those old fools can't see it. Victor Yun shook his head, put Wang Clan matters out of his mind, and focused on eating and sleeping.
Ninth Royal Uncle stayed inside the house, only getting up when night had fully fallen. He walked to the cabin where William was staying; seeing William's peaceful face, Ninth Royal Uncle smiled slightly, a sharp light flashing in his eyes.
William's courage was truly remarkable—wasn't he afraid of falling into Nolan's hands, unable to live or die? Nolan was no gentle soul.
Fine. Since you're willing to trust me with even your life, I'll believe in you this once.
Ninth Royal Uncle took out a pill, stuffed it into William's mouth, and called for his shadow guards: "Take him to Sutton Manor."
"Yes, sir." The shadow guards didn't say a word—just hoisted William and vanished into the night.
Ninth Royal Uncle wiped his hand with a cloth after giving William the medicine, then tossed it aside and told his attendant, "I want to see Prince Titus."
He hadn't forgotten who caused all this mess these past two days. If he didn't peel a layer of flesh off Prince Titus of Lyndaria, he wouldn't be Eastlyn's Ninth Royal Uncle.
Prince Titus, who was listening to his subordinates' reports, suddenly felt a chill run through him and a sense of dread. He couldn't focus, waved his attendants away, and was about to rest early—when he heard someone outside shouting greetings to Ninth Royal Uncle...
Premonition confirmed!
