"If Ethan Yin were here, he'd agree with our plan too." Cherry Miller squinted at the rain outside and said, "With weather like this, how could we be so selfish as to send the repair crew up the mountain to fix the base station? Six Saints Town barely has any signal towers, and the one we built is just for emergency communications. With this wind and rain, of course a temporary base station can't hold up—it breaking down is normal. Without proper protection, it's way too risky. We should wait until the weather clears and all hazards are gone before sending anyone up!"
After she finished, the three of them exchanged knowing glances.
Nice. The air was thick with a sense of mutual mischief.
Just losing contact wasn't enough.
Cherry Miller's eyes flashed. She beckoned with a finger and whispered, "I think we need to add more fuel to the fire for Miles Gu. Ryan, you have a satellite phone, right?"
"Yeah," Ryan King replied. "You want me to give a false report?"
"Bingo!" Cherry Miller said. "Just send back a message that's vague and misleading, let Miles Gu know that Yina is in danger—like, trapped in Six Saints Town, surrounded by a mudslide, and the road down is destroyed so there's no way to get help."
Yina Yin added, "Or just say I'm stuck somewhere with no signal, no food, no water. And let my parents know not to worry, and not to drag us down."
Yina Yin was desperate for Miles Gu's primary persona to come back.
Since Cherry Miller had gone to such lengths for her, she couldn't keep pretending she didn't care.
"I think we should do it," Cherry Miller said with a grin. "Ryan, you don't need me to teach you how to act, right?"
Ryan King thumped his chest and promised, "Just watch me!"
Ryan King immediately pulled out his satellite phone—since the Mo Family has their own satellites, and as Max Mo's nephew, Ryan naturally uses their signal.
Ryan King first contacted Max Mo, gave him a heads-up, and asked him to quietly tell the family that they were safe for now, but not to spread the word—especially not to let Miles Gu know.
Max Mo immediately understood his nephew's little scheme and laughed, "You young people can play your games, but there better not be any real danger. Your parents only have you, and if anything happens to you, your mom will come after me!"
"Uncle, I know, don't worry. Cherry's got her eye on me, she won't let anything happen!" Ryan King made a silly face and said, "I'm off to act for Miles Gu! Uncle, whether we can wake up his primary persona depends on my performance!"
Max Mo chuckled and said, "You should probably let Sophie know too."
Ryan King immediately made a salute and ended the satellite call.
Ryan King changed into the shabbiest clothes he could find, made himself look dirty, and ran outside to make the call.
Instead of calling Miles Gu directly, Ryan King dialed Ethan Yin. The two exchanged a look—both schemers—and with Ethan's subtle cue, Ryan King launched into his performance!
"Ethan, something's happened!" Ryan King wiped rain from his face, sobbing, "Brother Nina is missing!"
Ethan Yin saw Miles Gu rushing over, and, in full acting mode, anxiously asked, "What happened to Yina? What's wrong with her?"
"Last night's storm caused a landslide—mudslides destroyed two villages nearby. Lots of villagers didn’t have time to evacuate. Brother Nina said, as the Yin Family heiress, she had a duty to help, so she led a rescue team out in the rain. But—but..." Ryan King pinched his thigh hard, tears streaming down, "But the rescue team she led got hit by another mudslide. Now there’s no news from Yina or the others! I just searched with a team, but the place is a total ruin! Yina's gone!"
"What!" Before Ethan Yin could speak, Miles Gu lunged over, grabbed the phone, and shouted, "Ryan King, what were you doing? Why didn’t you watch her?"
Ryan King looked aggrieved, "How could I not watch? But if Brother Nina wants to do something, how could I stop her? There are thousands of villagers still stranded—how could she just do nothing? Miles, I know you’re worried about her, but what can I do? You need to think of something! Didn’t you train for extreme rescue? Haven’t you helped with flood relief before? Do something! The signal tower’s been under repair for hours and it still won’t work! Hurry and bring help!"
Miles Gu opened his mouth to speak.
It was the Primary Persona who had those skills—not him.
He didn’t know how to do anything!
For the first time in his life, the Second Persona felt defeated.
He had to admit—the Primary Persona really was exceptional, and he just couldn’t compare.
Even when Yina Yin was in danger, he was helpless—completely powerless!
Miles Gu’s face turned pale.
Ethan Yin’s voice trembled as he asked, "Do you still have enough supplies?"
Ryan King answered gravely, "We prepared half a year’s worth of supplies. But we didn’t expect all the Six Saints Town residents to turn to us for help. Brother Nina decided to let them hide with us in the cave to escape the flood. With thousands more mouths to feed, our supplies will only last two days. Ethan, you need to send help, or we’ll run out! The underground river flooded the cave last night—boats can’t get through, so we can only get aid by airdrop."
"Fine, then airdrop it!" Miles Gu said urgently. "I’ll get people ready right now."
"No, that won’t work—the weather’s too bad for low-altitude flights." Ethan Yin, in full acting mode, put on a desperate face. "There’s a thunderstorm, so planes can’t get close. Even if they could, they’d have to drop from high altitude—and those supplies can’t be dropped from that high!"
"Ethan, we’re running out of medicine—lots of people are injured and have fevers!" Ryan King added, "When Brother Nina went to help, she was burning up with fever. I’m afraid... I’m afraid she won’t make it!"
Miles Gu’s expression changed dramatically, his voice cracking, "What? She’s sick and still hasn’t come back? Is she crazy?"
"Miles, please hurry and save Brother Nina!" Ryan King sobbed, and Miles could barely understand him.
The call ended with a busy tone.
Obviously, Ryan King's signal was interfered with—even the satellite phone couldn't hold up.
After the call ended, Ryan King wiped the rain off his face and instantly snapped back to normal.
Acting is just way too much fun!
No wonder Senior Ethan loves working in showbiz.
Ryan King's mission was complete, and Ethan Yin's acting kicked into high gear!
Ethan Yin grabbed Miles Gu by the shoulders, eyes red, and said, "Yina is my little sister. No matter what, I won’t let anything happen to her! Even if it costs me my life, I’ll bring her back myself! Miles, I won’t ask what happened in England, or what you did before—Yina grew up with you, childhood sweethearts. Can you really just stand by and watch her die?"
Miles Gu blurted out, "No! Yina will be fine!"
"I really didn’t expect something like this to happen in Six Saints Town. If I’d known, I never would’ve let them go! Now their supplies will only last two days, but Yina might not even make it half a day! If there’s no timely rescue, no antibiotics, no medical team, she might never come back! Miles, I’m begging you—think of something! You trained in extreme rescue at Mr. Hans’s base, you must know what to do, right?" Ethan Yin was frantic, totally losing his composure, and Miles finally believed that Yina was really in trouble.
"I... I..." Miles Gu opened his mouth, but couldn’t say a word.
Refuse?
He couldn’t.
But if he didn’t refuse—he wasn’t the Primary Persona. He really didn’t know anything about extreme rescue.
"Let me think—just let me think." Miles Gu, dazed, turned and stumbled away.
As soon as Miles Gu left, Ethan Yin—back in acting mode—dried his tears, snapped back to normal, and shot Quentin Sheng a look.
Quentin Sheng whispered, "Miss Sharon Yun is ready. As soon as the Second Persona gives up, the Primary Persona can be awakened."
"Keep an eye on Miles Gu at all times," Ethan Yin said, then strode off.
He had to go talk to his parents and tell them what was really going on with Yina, so they wouldn’t worry.
He was confident in Yina and her team.
Cherry Miller never let him down.
With Cherry around, there’s no way Ryan King and Yina Yin would be put in danger—he just had this mysterious confidence in her.
