Sudden Appearance

12/2/2025

Princess May clutched her son, lost in thought, as he once again convulsed in agony. Suddenly, Princess May burst into sobs, crying out, "My son, this is my sin—retribution has come upon my child! Heaven, if you must punish someone, punish me! Spare my son, he's so young and innocent!"

Princess May wailed, her grief shaking the heavens, but the nearby guards grew visibly annoyed.

All the guards were sent by Lily Evans and held deep respect for her and Crown Prince Charles Hayes. One of them couldn't help but roll his eyes and said, "Do you know what this is called? This is: 'Man acts, Heaven watches. Fate turns, let's see whom Heaven spares!' You say your son is innocent, but was the Queen of Qin's son not innocent? You were cruel enough to poison an unborn child, to commit such heartless deeds—now that retribution has come, you can't bear it? You say your son is innocent, but was the Crown Prince of Qin not innocent?"

The guard’s words struck at her heart, and Princess May felt as if she were being roasted alive.

She looked at her son, writhing in pain in her arms, and forgot all dignity. Hugging her child, she knelt at the guard’s feet, frantically bowing her head, "Please, Guard, I beg you, let me and my son out! I just want to take him to a physician, I promise I won’t cause trouble! Please!"

The guard stared coldly at Princess May, unmoved. "Your son can't be saved. Didn't the physicians in the manor say so? No one can save him, not even changing his blood."

"No, I don't believe it! Changing the blood works! Lily Evans' son recovered after changing his blood, so my son can too!" Princess May screamed hysterically, clutching her child and rushing outside.

The guard sighed and shook his head. Just as he leapt forward to stop Princess May, the main gate of Chancellor Gregory Hayes' Estate suddenly swung open.

With the gate open, everyone's attention was instantly drawn.

Ever since Gregory Gu Jr. and Princess May were put under house arrest, the gate hadn’t opened for years. Its sudden opening was a true surprise.

"Who is it!?" Gregory Gu Jr. asked warily, staring at the entrance. His instincts told him that anyone able to open the main gate and enter must have an extraordinary identity.

Maybe it was the one who put him under house arrest!

Gregory Gu Jr. silently mulled over the old question: Who exactly had put him under house arrest? He’d already combed through every suspicious member of Princess May Chu's family in Chuland countless times. Now, no matter who appeared, Gregory Gu Jr. felt he wouldn’t be surprised.

Yet even so, when Gregory Gu Jr. saw who entered through the door, his eyes widened in shock, his mouth agape as if it could fit an egg!

At the entrance, a striking couple stepped in hand in hand: Alexander Hayes and Lily Evans, walking side by side, followed by the now-grown Charles Hayes.

Charles Hayes walked with steady steps, looking very healthy—the effects of his childhood poisoning had long been healed thanks to the Lin family's careful care.

Seeing Charles Hayes so healthy, Princess May’s eyes turned red, and she sobbed uncontrollably.

Alexander Hayes and Lily Evans entered with regal bearing, their presence commanding respect. Charles Hayes followed quietly behind, his gaze gentle yet unyielding.

Gregory Gu Jr. stood frozen, unable to utter a word, his mind blank as he stared at the three newcomers.
