She's Beyond Saving

Unable to sleep, Grace slipped into her magical space.

Inside the tower, she rummaged through her storage chest and found a steel arrow.

This was the very arrow that killed Henry Tuoba.

The long arrow was wrapped in cloth. When she unwrapped it, she saw a character carved into the shaft: Shang.

It was Sophie Shang's arrow.

She was the one who shot Henry Tuoba, won great merit, and replaced Evan Xiao as the Grand General of Blue Moon Kingdom...

Sophie Shang...

Thinking about the past, Grace's mind was a jumble of memories—flames of war, rivers of blood, her son Rui's cries, and the cold laughter of Zhuo Wan'er and her daughter.

Half-awake, she felt Evan Xiao climb into bed, pull her into his arms, and gently stroke her hair.

Feeling his burning warmth and strong heartbeat, Grace hugged him tight. No more nightmares tonight.

When she woke up the next morning, the rain had stopped.

Grace sat up and saw Evan Xiao lying steadily beside her.

And she—was clinging to him like an octopus! Her head on his arm, her hand on his chest, and one leg draped over him.

Oh, Mom... What am I doing?

Grace gently moved her leg off him, then her hand, and slowly sat up.

He didn't seem to wake up at all and kept sleeping soundly.

Grace glanced at him—and found she couldn't look away.

Asleep, he looked utterly relaxed, dangerously handsome. She suddenly wanted to pounce on him and have her way with him.

She's hopeless...

Even when she liked Colin Gu before, it was never this intense, was it?

Her lovesickness was getting worse by the day.

She shook her head, worried she'd lose control, and hurried out of bed to get dressed...

...

Once they were ready, the two went downstairs for breakfast, planning to head back to Danyang City after their meal.

With the Silver Dragon Stallion, they'd arrive by noon.

But before they finished eating, the innkeeper suddenly rushed over. "Sirs, something terrible has happened!"

"What is it?" Evan Xiao asked.

"Your horse is missing!"

"What?" Grace yelped. "How did that happen?"

"Last night, a section of our stable wall collapsed. Some of the horses broke free and ran off!" the attendant explained.

Grace's temper flared. She grabbed the innkeeper by the collar. "Your stable is built with solid stone—I saw it myself! How could it just collapse? You must be in on it! Are you working with thieves to steal from your guests? Tired of living, huh?"

"Miss... Miss, that's not true!" The innkeeper stammered, sweating. "We're an honest business, not a shady place! Ask anyone—everyone in town knows us!"

"I don't care if you're shady or not! Get our Silver Dragon Stallion back—or else!" Grace threatened.

"We—we've searched everywhere, but we just can't find it..." The innkeeper was nearly in tears.

"Miss, you're blaming the wrong person." A gentle voice sounded from behind.

Grace stiffened and turned to see Henry Tuoba and Felix Zeng walking over.

Felix Zeng still had a few bits of straw on his clothes.

He must've really slept in the woodshed last night.

Grace, after living for decades as an old monster, had pretty good self-control.

After a night to settle her emotions, she could now face Henry Tuoba calmly, without losing her composure.
