Jason Lin nearly fell out of bed when he heard this. He scrambled to ask Ryan Ling what the heck was going on.
He’d been surprised before, but when he found out Lily Liu had been bullied by that Wu Family brat May Wu for three whole years, he lost it—cursing up a storm and smashing a floor-to-ceiling window with a single punch.
“Bro, say no more! That so-called Wu Family princess? I can have her kidnapped in five minutes!” Jason Lin blurted out, all fired up.
“No way, man—kidnapping’s illegal. Besides, that wouldn’t really let my sister vent three years of bottled-up rage. Listen, I’ve got a plan. No need for knives or guns. Tomorrow, we’ll crash May Wu’s birthday bash and give her a mountain of face. Here’s what we’ll do…” Ryan Ling gritted his teeth and laid out the whole scheme.
“Alright, I’ll get my boys ready. I swear Lily Liu’s gonna outshine the Queen of England this time!” Jason Lin huffed, then slammed down the phone.
Back in his room, Ryan saw that Sophie Su was already out cold. Lily Liu had thrown a welcome dinner for everyone, and Sophie had ended up chugging beer all night—no way she could handle that much booze, so now she was sound asleep, cheeks bright red.
Staring at his girlfriend’s curvy chest, Ryan Ling’s mind started to wander. Here he was, alone in a room with his official girlfriend, a box of Okamoto 0.01s courtesy of Principal Zhang, and Lily Liu—acting as the ‘elder’—totally on board. Heck, Lily was practically rooting for him to sleep with Sophie. The timing, the place, the people—everything was lined up perfectly.
But nope—he just had to grit his teeth and hold back…
Seriously, what kind of life is this for a ‘second-generation Yama’?!
Afraid he wouldn’t be able to control himself sharing a bed with Sophie Su, Ryan Ling had no choice but to crash on the floor, totally resigned.
Nothing much happened that night. The next morning...
Sophie Su, Warren Yuan, and Frank Qin all found out about Lily Liu’s situation, and every one of them was so mad their faces turned red. Warren even stretched out his hands like he was ready to strangle that brat May Wu on the spot.
But honestly, going head-to-head with May Wu right now would just be giving her way too much credit.
Ryan Ling quickly laid out his whole plan. Everyone nodded along, totally on board. Right away, Sophie Su shook Lily Liu awake—still groggy—and insisted on dragging her to town for some serious shopping. Lily looked embarrassed; after two years of getting screwed over by May Wu, her shop’s cash was always tied up in supplies and payroll, with barely anything left over. Sure, she ran the country inn and the produce base, looked like a boss lady, but truth was, she was flat broke.
Honestly, she hadn’t bought a decent outfit all year—and even if she wanted to, she’d never dare.
“Don’t worry, sis—Sophie’s got cash to burn! Last time she saw a homeless old guy with a little girl, she just straight-up tipped them a million yuan! She’s loaded!” Ryan Ling laughed.
Sophie shot Ryan a look, but yeah, she was rolling in money now. Samuel Su, her grandpa, was already handing her the reins of Su Group, and all the legal stuff was basically done. Sophie had at least a couple hundred million in liquid assets—total rich girl mode. Buying a few outfits was pocket change.
“A—a million tip?” Lily Liu was totally stunned.
“Come on, sis, the car’s waiting outside. Today I’m going to give you a full Cinderella makeover—you’ll be Snow White for real!” Sophie didn’t hesitate, grabbing Lily and hauling her off. She even called Lily ‘sis’ more affectionately than Ryan did.
Lily Liu was still hesitating inside, but Sophie had already dragged her away.
“Alright, boys, don’t just stand there—get yourselves looking sharp! The hotter you look, the better. Tonight, I want everyone at peak swagger!” Ryan Ling barked, eyeing Warren Yuan and Frank Qin as Sophie and Lily headed out.
“Don’t worry, Lily Liu’s business is my business too! Tonight, I’ll help her save face for sure. Damn, I finally get to use that ten-thousand-yuan styling mousse I bought in the provincial capital!” Warren Yuan declared, already fired up and rushing off.
Frank Qin panicked and chased after him, stammering like a kid learning to talk: “Do—do you have—have any face masks?”
“Dude, you’re a zombie! What the hell do you need a face mask for, you outta your mind?”
“Give—give it to me, or I’ll strangle you!”
“Frank Qin, you little punk, you really would strangle me, huh? I just got my hair perfect and now you’re gonna mess it up—pay up!”
...
Watching this human-zombie brawl, Ryan Ling could only shake his head, speechless.
Still, he didn’t have time to watch their antics. Everyone had their own thing going on, and since Lily Liu was his closest, he couldn’t just sit around. If he was gonna help his sister show off tonight, he had to go all out.
Hiding out in a quiet corner, Ryan Ling summoned the System: “System, get your ass out here—this is urgent!”
“If the sky’s falling, you deal with it for now—I’m about to clear this level!” the System yelled, totally panicked.
Ryan Ling froze. Floating above him was a steamy game screen, with a pair of sneaky eyes glued to it. It was some kind of strip game, and a single account cost at least five grand.
“You little money grubber! You extort cash from me and blow it all on dirty games—playing like your life depends on it! I swear I’m telling my dad!” Ryan exploded, nearly zapping the System on the spot.
“Bro, chill—don’t! I’ve got no other hobbies, just this one little vice! Please don’t tell Lord Yama!” the System pleaded, sounding totally embarrassed.
“One little vice? You’re greedy, lazy, pervy, and suck people dry! You’re almost like my son now!” Ryan shot back, half laughing, half fuming at the System’s shamelessness.
“Alright, bro, don’t be mad! Next time I’ll share the game with you, how’s that?” the System grinned, trying to smooth things over.
“Yeah, right… Wait, what am I saying?! I’m Lord Yama’s godson, future boss of the human-world Hell Court, master of the underworld, and you want me to play your sleazy games? Keep ‘em for yourself! Anyway, if you don’t help me show off tonight, I’m tattling to my dad!” Ryan gulped, then threatened again.
“Show-off gear? What gear? The Special Item Store’s under renovation—I can’t even borrow anything!” the System whined, sounding ready to cry.
“I don’t care! If you don’t help me tonight, I swear I’ll make your life hell!” Ryan roared, voice practically shaking the walls.
“Oh my god, you win! Fine, you want to help your sister show off, right? I don’t have any fancy gear, but I can lend you people—well, ghosts, actually. Take this Ghost-Gathering Talisman loaded with a thousand-plus evil spirits to crash the party. That’s gotta be impressive, right?” the System said, trying to sound helpful.
“A thousand evil ghosts? Sounds hardcore! Deal—give me the nastiest, scariest ones you’ve got. I’m gonna scare the crap out of those losers!” Ryan Ling grinned, baring his teeth.
“Done! Here you go!” The System didn’t hesitate this time, instantly handing Ryan a Ghost-Gathering Talisman packed with chilling, ready-for-Hell evil spirits. Since there was still time, it let Ryan have a little fun with them first.
Ryan Ling was pretty satisfied—until the System’s strip game suddenly popped up with a notification.
Game timed out, game timed out—please restart from the beginning. Thank you!
"Nooo!" The System screamed, totally losing it. "Damn it, I’ve been grinding since midnight—made it all the way to the last layer, just one piece of clothing left! One step away..."
Ryan Ling shook his head—just another ‘kid’ ruined by gaming.
...
Time flew by and soon it was dusk. Ryan Ling didn’t hesitate—he called Jason Lin, and the boys waiting nearby brought the car around. Warren Yuan and zombie Frank Qin had spent all day getting ready, using up a whole jumbo bottle of mousse and every face mask Warren had. Frank’s once-stiff face was now shiny and smooth—hands down the hottest zombie king in town.
“Alright, let’s meet up with my sis and Jason and sweep Prosperity Tower Banquet Hall!” Ryan Ling shouted. The car took off, roaring toward the county seat—the curtain was finally rising on their big show-off extravaganza...
