"Yes, sir!" Alex immediately turned around and relayed the order.
Moments later, two very low-profile, ordinary-looking modified cars followed the two vehicles.
Cecilia Gu stared nervously at the video, afraid that if she blinked, they'd vanish.
Charles Yin pulled Cecilia down to sit and said, "Relax. The people we've sent out are all experts. Escaping under their noses won't be that easy."
Eric Jiang also let out a sigh of relief and said, "That's right. Since Molly Yun managed to bring us a clue, there's no way we'll let them get away!"
"But where are these two cars headed? What are they planning?" Cecilia asked, puzzled, watching the cars circle endlessly around the city, never stopping.
To avoid being spotted, Charles Yin's team had already switched out three different groups of cars and people for the tail.
If they never switched, the target would easily notice they were being followed.
"No idea. Maybe it's a diversion," Charles Yin frowned. "Everyone else, expand the search perimeter. It's possible these two cars are just a decoy—the real action might be with the others!"
As soon as Charles finished speaking, Ben suddenly called out, "Boss, look—there's another car with a Camellia Blossom Signal on its license plate!"
Everyone turned to the big screen as Ben quickly switched feeds, revealing a Jeep swaying through an intersection.
On the license plate, there was a camellia blossom—though not very clear.
"Find out where that car came from," Charles Yin ordered immediately. "No matter the reason, they're sending out several cars at once—there's definitely a purpose. Stay on them!"
"Yes, sir!" everyone responded in unison.
Sure enough, just as Charles Yin suspected, the first two cars were just a smokescreen.
The real action was with the Jeep.
The Jeep wobbled into the city and stopped in front of a pharmacy. Someone rushed inside and soon came out carrying a huge box.
The person wore sunglasses and a mask the whole time, making it impossible to see their face.
After scanning the area warily, he put the box in the car, jumped in, and quickly sped off.
"Stop him," Charles Yin said in a deep voice. "Looks like that pharmacy is their rendezvous point!"
Charles Yin's order was quickly relayed to the team at the intersection. In the next second, four cars appeared simultaneously, boxing in the Jeep and leaving it nowhere to go.
Seeing this, the man abandoned the car, grabbed the box, leapt out, and snatched a motorcycle. He took off, desperate to escape.
But his luck ran out right there.
Someone had scattered a pile of nails on the road ahead.
When the motorcycle passed over them, thud-thud-thud—the tires were instantly shredded!
The man was thrown off the motorcycle, landing on the ground in a mess.
Before he could get up, someone pointed a weapon at his head. "Don't move. You're coming with us!"
Only then did the man reluctantly raise his hands above his head, choosing to obey.
"What are you people doing? Is there no law anymore?" the man protested. "This is kidnapping!"
"Whether it's kidnapping or not, we'll tell you later." The team leader roughly dragged him up and shoved him into the car, taking the box along as well.
After the man was caught, Cecilia Gu couldn't help but follow Charles Yin and Eric Jiang to interrogate him.
But once he was forced into a chair, he looked completely innocent. "What do you want from me? I don't know anything!"
Cecilia couldn't help but ask, "Where's my sister? Where are you hiding her?"
"You're a funny lady. How would I know where your sister is?" the man replied, acting completely unfazed. "I'm just a regular citizen. If you keep harassing me, aren't you afraid I'll report you?"
Just then, Alex rushed in looking grim. "Boss, Mrs. Yin, Mr. Jiang—we've been tricked outside! The box only has a bunch of vitamins. There's nothing else in it."
Cecilia's face suddenly turned pale!
How could that be possible!
Charles Yin's eyes darkened. "A perfect diversion, a perfect test! Are you going to talk on your own, or do we need to use other methods first?"
The man grinned, baring his teeth. "I really don't know..."
Charles Yin had no patience for him anymore and shot Alex a look.
Alex pulled out a syringe from a box behind him and said to the man, "Since you know nothing, I guess you also don't know this injection was made by Jiro Hirayama. It's fine, it doesn't hurt—just a simple shot!"
As soon as Alex finished, the young man's face changed dramatically, and he started to visibly tremble.
Jiro Hirayama.
That name was practically synonymous with the devil!
The young man knew all too well—anything from Jiro Hirayama was sure to be something that made life worse than death!
His bravado vanished in an instant, and he stammered, "No, no, I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!"
"Talk!" Eric Jiang slammed the table and roared, "If you hide even a single word, you're dead!"
The man didn't doubt Eric Jiang for a second, and started shaking like a leaf. "The car was handed to me by a guy—he gave me ten thousand yuan and told me to pick up a box from a pharmacy! If anyone tried to stop me, I was supposed to act like I was desperate to escape. He also said, if I got caught, I should pretend to be super tough and not say a word..."
Charles Yin slammed the table, his face dark as iron. "We've been duped!"
Cecilia Gu and Eric Jiang both gasped. What exactly is this guy trying to do?
"He's testing us—to see if we've noticed something, to see if we've received any clues about Molly Yun!" Charles Yin's narrow eyes burned with fury. "If he dares to toy with me like this, I'll make him pay!"
Cecilia Gu and Eric Jiang both felt a chill run down their spines.
This guy is seriously scheming!
He actually thought of using this method to test them!
Doesn't that mean Molly Yun's cover is blown?
What should we do now?
Cecilia panicked. "Charles, what do we do next?"
Charles Yin's mind raced and he said immediately, "Quick! Have everyone grab a few unimportant people—grab as many as you can! Afterward, pay them compensation. The more, the better! Hurry!"
Alex instantly understood what Charles meant and relayed the order. Alex's instructions were even more detailed: "Different brands of cars, different ages, different drivers—grab a bunch, the more the better! If the car looks even a little dirty, grab it! Afterward, pay compensation. Recall the two cars we were tailing—let them go!"
Eric Jiang instantly understood what Charles Yin meant.
If they grabbed enough people, the focus wouldn't be on the Jeep anymore.
That way, they'd think the Jeep just got caught up in a big sweep—pure bad luck.
Not that it was specifically targeted or watched.
And Alex, by letting the first two cars go, also made it look like their side hadn't noticed anything odd about the license plate, just randomly grabbing cars and people.
Cecilia looked at Charles with admiration.
Thank goodness he was here.
Otherwise, she would've totally panicked!
If her sister's cover was blown, getting another message out would be nearly impossible!
Sure enough, with Alex's move, what was once clear was now completely muddled.
Even Yi Ran couldn't be sure if Charles Yin's team had gotten any clues.
After all, he sent out so many cars, and only lost one.
What a cunning man!
At that moment, both Charles Yin and Yi Ran were thinking the exact same thing.
This round of probing and counter-probing ended in a tie.
Neither side got any useful information, but neither gained the upper hand.
When Mo Zixin returned with his team and heard what happened, he said, "Yi Ran really is something. To trick Charles Yin—that's no small feat."
Charles Yin gave him a cool look. "If President Mo didn't fall for it, you must have good news, right?"
Mo Zixin glanced at Charles Yin and said, "Nothing on my end for now."
"If no one's got news, that means we haven't beaten that bastard yet. President Mo, you need to step it up!" Charles Yin said coolly.
Mo Zixin: "..."
Seeing the two of them bicker, Cecilia Gu said, "Come on, is this really the time? That was way too close—I almost got my sister in trouble! Yi Ran is just too wicked, so many dirty tricks, even using us to test my sister! If I catch him, I'm going to teach him a serious lesson!"
Mo Zixin looked at Cecilia, his gaze softening. "I may not have news about him, but I didn't come back empty-handed."
Everyone at the scene turned to look at Mo Zixin.
Mo Zixin spoke: "I got word that half a month ago, someone treated Su Peijun. That person was Yi Ran."
Cecilia's heart leapt. "And then?"
"After Yi Ran treated Su Peijun, he left without leaving any prescriptions. I asked the Su family's servants, and they said the doctor was very handsome, looked young—maybe in his twenties—but was an expert-level attending physician. Because of his final diagnosis, the Su family stopped aggressive treatment and started preparing for Su Peijun's passing." Mo Zixin said gravely, "This means Yi Ran knew early on that Eric Jiang and Nora would come for the funeral—he had everything planned. Su Peijun's death and Nora's disappearance were all his doing. And that's not all—I found out something else."
