Back in her room, Ivy Shen patted her startled little heart. "Whew, good thing I escaped before those two could blow up!" But then she raised an eyebrow, her thoughts shifting: "What am I scared of? It’s not like I don’t know martial arts. My taekwondo is awesome! Hmph, if they dare come near me, I’ll beat them to death!" She finished with a smug little laugh, guessing those guys must be totally stunned—did they really think she was some sickly kitten?!
The whole day slipped by in Ivy’s anxious worrying, and as night fell, she started getting cocky again. "Told you! Sometimes you just have to be ruthless!" Just thinking about those venomous snakes leaving tomorrow made her feel absolutely amazing tonight.
A while later—
With a creak, the door to her room swung open. Ivy was sprawled on her bed and didn’t even look up. "Lana, what’s taking you so long with the food?" she grumbled. She sat up, ready to greet her maid’s snacks—only to freeze the second she turned her head. That was NOT Lana. It was those two murderously handsome monsters.
“You… what are you doing here?” Seeing the Iceberg and the Poison Snake suddenly show up in her room, Ivy tensed up immediately, glancing around in hopes of spotting a servant.
“I’ve already sent them all to rest,” Adrian Night said, seeming to read her mind. He sat down at the table with elegant calm, pouring himself some tea like he owned the place.
Hearing that, Ivy instantly went on guard, edging toward the side of the bed. "You—you two show up in my room in the middle of the night, what do you want? Are you here to rob me? Or kidnap me? I’m telling you, I’m NOT going anywhere with you!"
“Madam, listen to yourself—makes us sound like a pair of bandits,” Lucian Vane smiled softly. “Don’t worry, if you don’t want to go we won’t force you. Although… we’re only doing this for your own good!” His charming smile made Ivy instantly suspicious—she was sure he was up to something.
“If that’s the case, then why are you here? Is this some kind of farewell?”
“Madam, we’ll be gone for at least three months this time…” Lucian Vane’s gaze grew dreamy as he looked at her. After a pause, he continued, “Didn’t you say earlier you felt dizzy and anemic? As your husband, I’m telling you—it’s because you’re too cold-bodied. That’s why you’ve got those symptoms.”
"Uh? And then?" Lucian Vane suddenly stopped talking, and Ivy couldn’t help but prompt him to continue.
"So, I’m honestly worried that if we leave you alone for so long, the cold in your body will get so bad you’ll cough up blood and die. That’s why, tonight, the two of us are going to serve the bed together—to drive out your chill. So, happy?" He finished with a smile that could stop hearts.
"What the hell? Serve the bed?" Ivy shouted, totally losing it. Serve the bed? The two of them said serve the bed?!
Adrian Night sipped his tea with perfect composure. "I like to sleep with my tail wrapped around the blanket. Since I’ll be sharing a bed with you tonight, I’ll reluctantly put my tail on you instead."
"No way!" Ivy shouted, "I don’t want you serving the bed—I… I don’t like sleeping with other people!" Oh god, they really wanted to sleep with her AND put their tails on her? She’d either be crushed or scared to death!
"Madam, we’re not other people—we’re your husbands!"
"Well… I still don’t want you serving the bed right now. Besides, both of you at once—don’t tell me you want to do it together? Is this era really that open-minded?!"
"What, two’s not enough? Should I go call Caleb Miles and Liam Willow too?" Lucian Vane joked, making as if to leave and fetch them.
"Stop right there!" Ivy panicked the moment she heard that. Two husbands already made her head spin—if all four showed up, she’d go insane! Choking down her anger, she demanded, "What exactly do you two want?!"
"To keep you company. And sleep." Adrian Night replied simply and directly.
