Evan Lin knew that this energy was Divine Power—a whole tier above Immortal Spirit Force. With Divine Power pouring into him, his injuries healed even faster.
This Ascension Pool was enormous, and the Divine Power within it was incredibly dense. The pool water was thick, almost like the blood pool back in Dragon God Valley, letting Evan absorb as much as he wanted.
On the shore, the two guards stared at Evan in shock. One said, "That kid’s been in the Ascension Pool for half an hour now. Why hasn’t he come out yet? Did the tribulation lightning fry him to death?"
"Probably not. Plenty of people can last more than half an hour in the Ascension Pool—the greater their potential, the longer they endure. Let’s wait a bit. Maybe he really is a rare talent. If so, the two of us could get some credit for it," the other replied.
Evan could hear their conversation loud and clear. At this moment, the energy in his dantian was transforming—from Chaos Immortal Force into Chaos Divine Power. The process took time, and as the Divine Power entered his body, it slowly purged away lingering impurities.
His Eighth-Layer Starforge Body already had almost no impurities, but the baptism of the Ascension Pool’s water made it even cleaner. Right now, Evan was devouring Divine Power from the pool like a parched rice field soaking up a heavy rain.
In the blink of an eye, two more hours passed. The two men at the edge of the Ascension Pool were getting anxious. "Should we go check on him? Why isn’t that kid up yet? If he dies in there, we’ll be in trouble!"
"You think you can go down there? Only those who haven’t undergone the pool’s baptism can enter. If you try, your body will explode on the spot. Plus, the invisible barrier over the Ascension Pool isn’t something you can break—unless you’re a God-King. Are you crazy or just scared out of your wits?" the other retorted.
"This is seriously weird. I think we should report it to the higher-ups—let them send someone to check. If something really did happen, it won’t be our fault. And if that kid turns out to be some heaven-defying genius, maybe we’ll finally get out of this dump. It’s been ages since I tasted a woman," the first guard grumbled.
"Go report it, then. I’ll keep watch here. No one’s ascended through this Ascension Pool for centuries, and now we get a guy who’s pitch-black all over and can stay in there for nearly three hours. This is the first time I’ve seen anything like it in tens of thousands of years."
The god-realm guard quickly left, and Evan had no time to stop him. Right now, Chaos Divine Power was surging madly in his dantian. As crisp popping sounds echoed from within his body, Evan grinned with excitement.
Those pops were the sound of his realm advancing. He’d already reached late-stage God-Man—just after ascending to the God Realm, he’d instantly broken through! That was an auspicious sign, and Evan was more than satisfied. Maybe, by the time he left the Ascension Pool, he’d even be an early-stage Heavenly God.
Of course, chances like this were rare and precious. Evan had to seize the moment. Divine Power from the Ascension Pool kept pouring into his body, and after breaking through, his dantian expanded even further. Suddenly, he noticed his other arm glowing faintly.
Clenching his fist, he felt an overwhelming power inside. But if he ever unleashed that energy, he sensed it might drain more than half the energy in his dantian in one go. The feeling came instinctively, and its suddenness made Evan’s heart skip a beat.
He understood that unless it was a life-or-death situation, he’d better not use this left-arm attack. Otherwise, if his Chaos Divine Power ran dry, he’d be in real danger.
Just then, the guard who’d gone to report returned, leading a middle-aged man. "So the ascendant you mentioned is in this Ascension Pool? How long has he been inside?" the newcomer asked.
"Sir, he’s been in the Ascension Pool for almost half a day. We don’t know if the pool’s powerful energy has blown his body apart, and our divine sense can’t probe what’s happening inside. That’s why we called you to check," explained the guard watching Evan.
The newcomer was an early-stage Immortal Lord—a big deal in this remote region. In All-Stars City, his status was even higher, and he’d grown accustomed to looking down on everyone.
"Half a day? Are you telling me someone’s lasted half a day in the Ascension Pool? You’d better not be lying to me. If you are, the consequences will be serious," the middle-aged man warned.
"Sir, I wouldn’t dare lie to you, not even if I had a death wish. He really has stayed in the Ascension Pool for almost half a day—maybe he’s some kind of freakish genius," the guard insisted.
"Talent? You think someone like that could show up in a place like this? This Ascension Pool is the lowest-grade one in the entire God Realm. Normally, ascendants who can last half an hour here break through to mid-stage God-Man. The true freaks might reach late-stage God-Man, but that’s all because of the pool’s Divine Power quality."
"The Divine Power in this pool is the lowest of the low. If it can purge your body’s impurities, you should count yourself lucky. Talent? I bet that guy died from greed, blown up by Divine Power," the middle-aged man sneered.
As Divine Power kept pouring in, Evan started to feel uncomfortable. The pool’s Divine Power was way too concentrated—low in quality, but so abundant that it made up for its flaws. For someone like Evan, who desperately needed Divine Power to transform his body, it was the best supplement imaginable.
Evan glanced at the Ascension Pool and, with a thought, activated his Timewheel Bracelet. Now that he had Divine Power, he could finally use the bracelet. He prepared to channel some of the Divine Power into it.
Sure enough, as soon as the Timewheel Bracelet opened, the Divine Power in the Ascension Pool surged toward it like it had found an escape route, flooding into the bracelet’s inner world. Evan was overjoyed at the sight.
The torrent of Divine Power rushing into the Timewheel Bracelet made the barrier over the Ascension Pool tremble. The vibration instantly alarmed the three men on the shore.
"That kid’s not dead—looks like he’s about to fly out. This is unbelievable! If he really managed to last this long in the Ascension Pool, he’s got to be some heaven-defying genius. The City Lord needs talent like this, and you two have earned major credit today!" the middle-aged man exclaimed.
"Thank you, sir. We wouldn’t dare take credit—it’s all thanks to you. We’re just following orders," one of the guards replied.
"Excellent! Once he comes out, I’ll take him back to All-Stars City—the City Lord will be thrilled!" the middle-aged man said with a laugh.
But as Divine Power streamed into the Timewheel Bracelet, something monumental was happening—something that would have a huge impact on Evan...
