Rachel Lan's Decision

I remained silent as the colorful barrier behind me thickened. The Wraithlord stood before the wall, the smile in his eyes growing deeper.

"It's almost time, Rachel Lan. Bring out the Blood Jade."

I nodded, taking out the Blood Jade that sealed a fragment of the Wraithlord's soul. The Wraithlord continued speaking.

"When this wall opens, just throw the Blood Jade inside."

I nodded in silence.

"There’s no time left, Rachel Lan. If you cannot choose, remember what I told you—you may return to the world of the living. Once you’ve made your choice, you can answer and return to the living. No spell here can bind the heart of someone filled with hope. Think carefully, and go back, Rachel Lan!"

I let out a soft cry and stood up, quietly gazing at the wall in front of me, rippling like water. My hand gripped the Blood Jade tightly.

Long ago, I actually noticed certain things—especially during that incident with Lord Wraith. In the end, it was Zhang Qingyuan who fought Lord Wraith alone, even after his heart was destroyed. Yet, even with his heart ruined, Lord Wraith’s strength still far surpassed everyone present.

I witnessed Zhang Qingyuan do it with my own eyes. After I returned, I kept pondering how a person could possibly defeat a Lord Wraith of that level. No matter how I thought about it, I couldn’t find an answer.

But when my father embedded the power of the Phoenix Blade into Zhang Qingyuan’s body, he managed to wield flames. That moment left me even more astonished.
