Gunfight, A Doctor Kills Without a Trace
Three...
As Serena Feng silently counted to three in her mind, the City Lord of Night City finally lost his composure and barked, "Stop right there."
The killing intent in the City Lord's eyes grew sharper. For a mere doctor to dare show him attitude—clearly, she was tired of living.
"Serena Feng, don’t think I’m being polite because I fear you. You’d better think this through—if you make things hard for me today, even if I get what I want, I won’t let you off in the future."
"Whatever. If the City Lord wants to make a move on me, I’ll play along. But let me remind you—don’t forget I’m a doctor. A doctor can heal with medicine, but can also use it to kill. Doctors kill without leaving a trace. I may disdain using my skills to murder, but even a rabbit bites when cornered. If you push me too far, don’t blame me for poisoning Night City itself."
Serena spoke with calm indifference, but the faces of the City Lord and Su Wan changed instantly...
Doctors kill without leaving a trace—someone had already proven this was no empty saying. A truly skilled physician could not only save lives, but also end them.
A ruthless glint flashed in the City Lord's eyes. Night City had already crossed Serena Feng—since she refused to save Reid Yale, it was time to strike first: capture her now, heal Reid, then kill her afterward.
The City Lord shot a look at his guards. One nodded and strode forward. Just as Serena Feng was about to step over the threshold, the guard swung his sword hilt toward her back...
It was as if she had eyes in the back of her head. The moment the sword hilt was about to strike, Serena stumbled over the threshold and fell forward, not only dodging the blow herself but dragging Simon Sun along with her, pulling both of them out of the blade’s reach.
"Take her down—leave her alive!" The City Lord of Night City gave the order without hesitation. His soldiers had been ready from the start; at his word, they surged forward. But just as Serena seemed about to fall, she spun around, shoved Simon Sun out of the way, pulled out a black object, and fired it at the guard who’d tried to ambush her.
Don’t blame me—blame your master for being a fool, thinking he could use force. If you were Eastlyn royalty, maybe I’d tolerate it. But an outsider daring to threaten me on Eastlyn territory? Dream on!
Bang— A single spot of blood bloomed between the guard’s brows, and he collapsed with a thud.
The others hadn’t even figured out what was happening before several more bangs rang out. The guards closest to Serena Feng dropped one after another.
"Stop! One more step and I won’t hold back." Serena raised her handgun, aiming straight at the City Lord of Night City, her smile undiminished.
"City Lord, care to test whether your swords are faster, or my hidden weapon? At this distance, I guarantee I’ll kill you."
"What kind of hidden weapon is that?" The City Lord didn’t dare make a move—he’d seen the destructive power of that thing in Serena’s hand.
Serena’s smile grew even brighter, but inside she finally let out a deep breath. Thank goodness—the handgun’s intimidation worked. If the City Lord had pressed any further, she really wouldn’t have been able to hold them off.
A handgun may be fast, but it’s still no match for so many swords.
"Just a little toy Ninth Royal Uncle gave me. What, City Lord—interested?" Serena smiled with dazzling poise, surrounded by soldiers yet utterly unafraid.
Her beautiful eyes swept the room. While everyone was still stunned by the handgun’s power, Serena calmly ejected the magazine right in front of the City Lord. "Want to take a look, City Lord? Maybe reconsider and talk this out with me about treating Reid Yale. Fighting is just embarrassing."
Serena tossed the empty magazine to the City Lord, who assumed it was something valuable. A strange light flickered in his eyes as he reached out to catch it. In that instant, Serena swiftly loaded fresh bullets, snapped the magazine in with a click, and released the safety.
"Not good! Serena Feng is reloading her hidden weapon—quick, attack!"
The City Lord realized what was happening, but it was already too late.
Bang—
Serena fired a shot at the City Lord’s feet, making him jump back so fast he nearly crashed through Serena’s wall.
"Stop! Everyone stop! I said stop!" The City Lord, terrified of dying under Serena’s gun, shouted in panic.
"No need to panic, City Lord. I had no intention to kill—just an accident." Serena looked perfectly innocent, her face serene and smiling as ever.
Killing a few lowly soldiers was fine, but if she killed the City Lord, she’d be in real trouble.
"What are you all standing around for? Attack! She’s out of ammo!" The City Lord, his life threatened, nearly lost his mind as he roared the order.
"Yes, sir." The guards charged again, but Serena fired another shot—this time, the bullet sped straight for the City Lord’s brow.
Aah—! Su Wan screamed. The City Lord dodged desperately, but another shot rang out. The first bullet buried itself in the wall; the second grazed the City Lord’s ear.
"City Lord, do you still want to play? One more round and you might not be so lucky—if my hand slips, your brains could end up splattered." Serena smiled like an innocent child, but only she knew her palms were sweating with nerves. If these two shots didn’t intimidate the City Lord and he insisted on pushing harder, she’d be in real trouble.
A burning pain shot through his ear. The City Lord’s eyes went bloodshot—he was finally cowed by Serena’s handgun and shouted, "Stop!"
"You’re a smart man, City Lord." Serena smiled in satisfaction, finally letting her rigid back relax.
Glancing at the corpses at her feet, Serena murmured an apology. If she hadn’t shown the City Lord the true power of her handgun, and just pointed it at him and shouted "Don’t move!"—he might’ve knocked the weapon out of her hand before she could fire.
After all, aside from Lance Quinn, everyone who’d seen the handgun’s true power was dead.
"City Lord, are we still going to talk?" Serena kept her gun trained on him—if any soldier so much as moved, she’d drag the City Lord down with her.
Of course, the City Lord understood her meaning. Without another word, he waved his men back: "Stand down."
Once she was sure she was safe, Serena lowered her gun, ready to finally negotiate with the City Lord. She was confident he’d be reasonable this time—after all, a fight to the death helped no one; compromise was the true win-win.
As Serena sat down, she deliberately glanced at Su Wan, who glared back fiercely.
Serena just smiled, unconcerned, about to speak when she heard faint footsteps. Both she and the City Lord looked up—Victor Yun and Holden Cui were slowly entering the hall…
What are those two doing here? Serena raised an eyebrow, suspicion in her eyes.
As two of the Nine Provinces Realm’s most outstanding young men, Victor Yun and Holden Cui possessed striking good looks and an undeniable noble aura. The moment they stepped into the hall, it seemed to brighten; standing at the center, they instantly became the focus of attention…
